About Treasured Tomes Editing Services
About TTES
Greetings, fellow writers! I am Jen, your humble editor. I started Treasured Tomes Editing Services (TTES) because, having recently self-published my own work, I realized how much time and frustration a writer can save by having a great editor on their side.
Yes, Grammarly and other spellcheck services are great when you have absolutely $0 to spend. Checking grammar and spelling is only a fraction of the work that goes into refining a work for publication.
That's where TTES steps in. Whether you need a line reading, developmental editing, or just a basic proofreading, I can do that for you. I'm also not limited to editing just creative fiction. Send me your poetry, your creative non-fiction, your academic and scholarly works, your blog entries... We will make your work shine and do so as a team.
I'm not here to simply correct your writing and send it back to you. I'm here to pique your brain, offer suggestions, and be your cheerleader. Why? Because I want to see you succeed.
If you are interested in working with me on your novel, poetry collection, article, or academic paper, please send me a message and let me know what it is you need help with.

Who is this Jen chick, anyway?
I'm Jen Chichester, and I approve this message.
So, who am I? What brought me to the point in my life where I decided to "become" an editor?
I grew up knowing I was good at one thing - wordsmithing. One time, in third grade, I received a lunch detention, and my "punishment" was copying words and their definitions from the dictionary. Little did my teacher know, I was a glutton for this type of punishment. I absorbed words, I studied languages, and I found ways to express myself. Outwardly, I was not an expressive child and was conditioned that way. Writing gave me an outlet. It gave me therapy.
Grown-up Jen graduated high school and went to college, eventually completing a Master's degree in English. Instead of doing the so-called "logical" thing and pursuing a Ph.D., I decided to pursue a degree in Holistic Life Coaching. Why? Why would I throw away my academic prowess and successes?
Because I wasn't throwing anything away. I was accepting myself and allowing myself to grow, and I decided that I wanted to help others on their path as well. That's where editing comes into play. When I began to self-publish, I had no idea what I was doing. I couldn't format an ebook to save my life, but I had to learn. I was fortunate enough to have a good support system surrounding and encouraging me, but the one thing I lacked was a damn fine editor.
I don't regret learning everything on my own, but it would've saved me a lot of time.
I know what you're thinking. If I'm such a great editor, I should be able to edit my own works without hiring someone else. Right? Wrong. Yes, I have a ton of editing skills, but even the best editors sometimes need help with their writing. As an author, I get where you, my fellow authors, are coming from. And I'm here to help. I'm also here to learn and grow with you.
I firmly believe in the power of team work, although I know we authors tend to be solitary creatures who like to work independently. But, trust me, if you want to be a successful author, you need a good team to have your back. That's why I'm doing this; supporting each other is the only way any of us will experience genuine and lasting success.
