Submission Policies
All manuscripts need to be submitted in the following standard format:
- Times New Roman font
- 12-point font
- Double-spaced
- 1-inch margins
- If you are submitting an academic or non-fiction piece with citations, please include them at the end of the document, as per citation style guidelines. (But don't worry! If you're having trouble understanding these, I can help!)
If you do not submit your work in the standard format, I will make a note of it in your document.
Hint: If you are going the traditional route with publishing, you will need to be mindful of what publishers will be looking for. Since they like to see polished excerpts, it is important to work out your formatting. If you're unclear on how to format your book, just let me know.

What You Should Know
I always ask that authors send me a sample of their work before we agree to work with one another. Why do I do this?
We need to both agree that we're a good fit. When I work with an author, we are a team. An author might submit a good work, but it might be better tailored to another editor's strengths. While I am comfortable with almost any genre, you might find that you are a better with with an editor who works specifically in your genre.
So, yes, you are essentially auditioning for a role. It's nothing to be afraid of, but be aware that you should probably send your sample out to a few select editors, then see which one jives with you the most. It's nothing personal.
If we are a good fit and agree to work together, guess what? The first five pages of your manuscript are FREE! Yeah, I'm going there. Why? Because you're already going to be paying me quite a good chunk of change. Regardless of what degree of editing your work needs or what style it is in, the first five pages are always free.
Once we've agreed that we will work well together, I will send you a contract form, which I require you sign before we begin our work. The contract outlines the payment amount and date(s) that we will have already discussed. Once you have signed and returned the form to me, the work will commence!
